It has been a few years since Dameron purchased its ThermoJetTM Solid Object Printer. This system is capable of producing one, two or even small volume Rapid Proto-Type wax patterns for a variety of end uses and in the few short years it has been in service, it has served many of our customers ability to move from concept to market more quickly than previously seen.

The system is based on Multi-Jet Modeling (MJM) technology and is in the Thermol plastic material class. Manufactured by 3D Systems, the ThermoJetTM machine will provide a superior opportunity for communicating design ideas between our customers and Dameron. The "Dameron Express Wax" process can be used to produce real models for a variety of uses including, but not limited to, presentations, design validation and approval, improving product design, reduction (possible elimination) of tooling costs, reduction in R & D development costs and production of wax patterns for casting manufacture. (See photo on PDF for typical wax patterns.)

If your need is to see a physical model of the design you are developing, this process will be of invaluable service to you. By simply transferring your STL modeling files electronically to Dameron, within a few days (possibly even overnight), a solid wax, three-dimensional model is express mailed to you. Or, the Express Wax pattern is placed into Dameron’s investment casting process and within a very short period of time, you have a casting that can be machined, assembled or placed directly into service. Either way, you achieve your requirement very quickly and with extremely low upfront costs.

Dameron has worked with several Rapid Prototyping materials for many years either supplied directly by our customers, or purchased from outside sources. Some non-wax patterns (SLA) have produced outstanding results, but, due to the material they are manufactured in, require additional time and effort to insure our customer’s requirements are met. Now, our Express Wax process will continue to provide this valuable service to our customers very inexpensively and with a pattern material nearly matching that of traditional injected wax patterns. Imagine this scenario, you have a component that you feel will improve the performance of your product. In order to prove your design, you must first produce a sample casting. However, the cost of the tooling could be $1,000, $5,000 or even $10,000. Solution: Have Dameron produce an "Express Wax" pattern for a fraction.

Or, another possibility is that you may have a new product line that you want to produce, process, assemble and test run the various components (prior to production design finalization) and therefore only need one or two pieces of each component for a laboratory test cycle. Once again, the price of the upfront tooling cost is just too expensive for the "introductory project". Solution: Your already existing electronic model file can be transferred to Dameron and with in a few days, Express Wax patterns are produced, followed by Dameron’s short manufacturing cycle. You will have your new cast product samples available and at a fraction of the cost. Further, should there be any modifications needed and new patterns or castings produced, a simple e-drawing change is made to any design and the Express Wax process can be repeated as many times as needed.

Still yet another possible scenario could be that you only require a few parts to fill your entire requirement. To construct an investmentcasting tool or to have a local machine shop set up for a small prototype run of your design cut from expensive stock material would be cost prohibitive. Solution: Allow Dameron’s Express Wax processproduce patterns utilizing your electronic engineering files, process them through our system and produce castings for you within a few weeks. Many investment castings can be used as cast or with minimal machining. You will once again fulfill your requirements with just a fraction of the cost. There are some size limitations to the process, however, we working on a variety of ways to produce larger designs. Like all Dameron processes, this new addition will continue to be enhanced and upgraded to meet our growing customer demands. Our organization is committed to producing the best possible cast product we can. When our customers excellent designs meet with our ability to produce a quality product for them, the results are extraordinary. Allow Dameron to put it’s Express Wax process to work for you in any imaginable way we can to meet your need. It would be our pleasure to work with you, utilizing this new technology with the goal of reducing your costs.
