The Investment Casting process provides the engineer with the ability to design "near-net" shape with those surfaces requiring machining to have minimal stock. Since the majority of the part will be cast net- only critical interfaces will require machining. This will reduce both CNC machine times, and the cost of expensive machining fixtures.
